Brotato on PS5, Xbox, Switch, PC and Mobile: Version Guide

Brotato is available on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android. PlayStation and Xbox versions launched on January 30, 2024, with Xbox Game Pass at launch. PC gets new content first: Primal Dread released on Steam on November 2, 2026, and console and mobile versions are planned for early 2027 with no confirmed day.

Release timeline by platform

Brotato entered Steam Early Access in September 2022 and reached version 1.0 in June 2023. Mobile versions arrived in March 2023, the Switch release followed in August 2023, and PlayStation and Xbox versions launched together on January 30, 2024.

Dates here are worldwide launch dates reported by the publisher and press. Store availability and prices vary by region, so check your platform store before buying.

  • PC (Steam): first to receive updates and DLC.
  • Nintendo Switch: available since August 2023.
  • PS4 and PS5: available since January 30, 2024.
  • Xbox One and Series X|S: available since January 30, 2024, including Game Pass at launch.
  • iOS and Android: ported by Erabit Studios, available since March 2023.

Brotato Premium vs the free mobile app

On phones there are two listings. Brotato: Premium is a one-time purchase (around US$4.99 on Google Play when checked) that removes ads. The free Brotato app is supported by ads and in-app purchases, and lets you unlock the full game later.

If you plan to play more than a few runs, Premium is usually the simpler choice. The two apps are separate store listings, so decide before investing many hours.

Co-op, online play and crossplay

Local co-op for up to four players arrived on PC and later reached consoles. There is no official online multiplayer or crossplay between platforms. On PC, players use Steam Remote Play Together to share a local session over the internet; see our Brotato online guide and co-op guide.

Mobile versions do not have confirmed local multiplayer, so co-op players should pick PC or a console.

DLC and updates on consoles

Consoles and mobile receive updates after PC. Primal Dread is on Steam now; its console and mobile release is planned for early 2027, which is a window, not a confirmed date for PS5. Our Primal Dread guide and DLC comparison cover what each expansion adds.
